Troy A. Archie
In 1991 Mr. Archie received his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from Lafayette College and his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in Camden, New Jersey in 1996.
In 1993, Mr. Archie served as a legal intern at the Camden County Prosecutors Office, Camden, New Jersey. In that capacity, he was responsible for legal research and writing involving search and seizure, child abuse and forfeiture law. From 1994 until 1996, he served as a law clerk to Aaron Smith, Esquire and Emmett E. Primas, Jr., Esquire of Smith & Primas, Camden, New Jersey.
Mr. Archie began his professional legal career in 1996 as an associate for the law firm of Smith and Primas. In that capacity he was responsible for criminal, family and municipal matters. He was also primarily responsible for a large percentage of the firm’s research and legal brief writing involving complex issues of law.
Mr. Archie maintained a solo practice located in the City of Camden from 1998 until he joined Afonso & Baker PC in 2012 to create Afonso Baker & Archie
Mr. Archie is licensed to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey. His related memberships include the New Jersey Bar Association, Camden County Bar Association, The American Trial Lawyers Association, the Rutgers Law School Alumni Association, the National Football League Players Association as a Contract Advisor, and The Sports Lawyers Association. Mr. Archie along with his partner Victor Carstarphen has represented several players in the National Football League on teams such as the Oakland Raiders, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, Carolina Panthers, and the Buffalo Bills.
In fifteen years of practice, Mr. Archie has handled thousands of complex criminal matters on the State and Federal level (including cases in Vermont, New York, Texas, and Pennsylvania) as well as thousand of Municipal Court matters throughout the entire state. Mr. Archie has also litigated numerous matters before State and Federal juries. His most recent high profile case was United States v. Eljvir Duka, a four (4) month terrorism trial dubbed “The Fort Dix Six” and he’s currently representing one of the Defendants in United States v. Nicodemo Scarfo, Jr. an alleged white collar hostile takeover of a Texas based firm by members of the Philadelphia Mob.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Mr. Archie along with Victor Carstaphen and local Professional Athlete and client Rashad Baker has organized a free football clinic for the children of the City of Camden in the summers of 2005 through 2011. Additionally, a former 10 year veteran football coach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, Mr. Archie is now a board member and coach of the Winslow Township Maullers Football organization in Sicklerville, New Jersey where he resides with his wife Evelyn, daughter Sauliana and two sons Ezrah and Armonti.
